Game Zone- 1 Hour

Overall Structure:

Gary will run the 2 games in the game zone (or help oversee it). But, here are the instructions. Please familiarize yourself with both games/tournaments incase Gary for some reason gets tied up.

Game Zone Instructions

Setup

  • Divide the room into 10 teams of approximately 8 kids.

  • Split each team into:

    • Squad A (4 kids)

    • Squad B (4 kids)

  • There will be two separate tournament brackets (A & B).

Basketball Headband Tournament (30 Minutes)

How to Play

Each squad has 4 players.

One player wears the basketball basket.

The other 3 teammates throw ping pong balls for 30 seconds.

Rotate until every player has worn the basket.

Each squad takes 2 minutes total.

Scoring

  • White Ping Pong Ball = 1 point

  • 🔴 Red Fire Ball = 5 points

Each squad receives 3 Fire Balls to use whenever they choose.

Add all points together for the squad's total score.

Tournament

Preliminary Round

  • All 10 squads compete.

  • Top 8 scores advance.

Quarterfinals

  • Top 8 compete.

  • Top 4 advance.

Semifinals

  • Top 4 compete.

  • Top 2 advance.

Championship

  • Final 2 compete.

  • Highest score wins.

Repeat for both Bracket A and Bracket B.

Granny Pants Higgy Bear Toss (30 Minutes)

How to Play

Each squad has 4 players.

One player wears the granny pants.

The other 3 teammates throw Higgy Bears for 30 seconds.

Rotate until every player has worn the pants.

Each squad takes 2 minutes total.

Scoring

  • Cream Bear = 1 point

  • Green Bear = 3 points

Each squad receives 3 Green Bears.

Green Bears must be thrown from behind the Bonus Line.

Add all points together for the squad's total score.

Tournament

Run the same tournament format:

  • Preliminary Round (10 → 8)

  • Quarterfinals (8 → 4)

  • Semifinals (4 → 2)

  • Championship (2 → Winner)

Repeat for both Bracket A and Bracket B.

Volunteer Tips

  • Keep the games moving.

  • Every child wears the basket/pants once.

  • Encourage cheering and teamwork.

  • Record scores immediately after each squad finishes.

  • In the event of a tie, run a 30-second tiebreaker.
