Overall Information

Parents will be coming to pick up their kids in all rooms. Please have parents line up at the door (in lines of 2-4- or whatever there is space for.) The kids will go to their parent and head out of the room as they see their parents in line. No kid/teen (even older teens) can be released to anyone but their parent/guardian. We won’t do a sign-in sign-out sheet, but please make sure a child doesn’t leave the room without an adult. Security will also be watching for this.

If for some reason a parent doesn’t come and pick up their child/teen- please bring them to the calm corner room. Alison and Colm will be watching kids that are waiting for their parents. This way you can still take your break.

There will be bathroom passes. Only 2 kids/teens can go to the bathroom at a time. There will be a security guard at a table right outside of the kids rooms. They will have to show their pass to the security guard. The bathrooms are right next to the meeting rooms.

There will be water and cups in each meeting room.

There will be a pile of pillows in each room for kids if they aren’t comfy or need something to put behind their backs.

Kids/teens are not allowed to be on their phones. They can take pictures and text parents if they need something- but no scrolling TikTok, etc. Remind them they are there to make friends- and they can look at their phone when they are at home.

Please make every effort to keep an eye on kids that look like they aren’t having fun or being included and try to make Higgy Con special for them.

Calm Corner

There is a calm corner room where kids/teens can go that may be overwhelmed or in pain. There will be coloring pages in the room, fidgets, a few bean bags. 2 parents will be in the room to help those kids. One of them is a therapist. They are both very sweet. (Alison and Colm.) They will take a pass to go to the calm corner if they would like to. It is not a place to go hang out with friends- just to recharge for kids that need a quiet place to go. There will be 2 large Higgy Bears in each room. That is their pass to go to the calm room. The security guard will know to look for it.

Higgy Help Desk

If a kid/teen needs their parent- please walkie talkie the help desk. This will be outside of Ballroom B. Let them know the kid’s name. They will contact their parent and have their parent come and help them or sign them out if needed.

If you need anything or have any questions, please contact the help desk. Bobby, Catheren or Gary will be at the desk to help you with anything you need.

If any kid/teen is not behaving or listening to you, and/or not following the rules- please let the Help Desk know.

*Very important- if a kid “disappears” or tries to leave the room without a pass- please let the Help Desk know. The kid/teen will have to go sit with their parents in the ballroom the rest of the time. Their safety is the most important thing and I’m not messing around this year. I will tell everyone this in my group talk in the morning when kids and parents are together.

Room Info Overall

There are 6 sessions divided mainly by age. There will be a few outliers in ages (younger/older siblings for example.)

Sessions 1 & 2 will be in the same room and then you will rotate into different rooms the rest of Higgy Con.

You will have black lanyards that indicate to the security guard that you are allowed to leave the rooms at anytime.
